FOUNDER
DANNY Q. CLOYD
A native Washingtonian, Danny Q. Cloyd discovered his passion for wine while exploring the wineries nestled in the foothills of Virginia. Unlike many wine professionals whose defining moment came from a legendary Bordeaux or rare Burgundy, the wine that changed Danny’s life was a simple locally grown Viognier crafted just 45 minutes outside of Washington, D.C.
During a visit to a Virginia winery, Danny realized wine represented something he had spent his life searching for — the perfect intersection of art and science. From his early years as a professional photographer to his work in Emergency Medicine (EMS), he had always been drawn to both creativity and precision, but never found them fully united in one space until discovering wine.
In that moment, wine became more than just a beverage. It became culture, storytelling, chemistry, history, and human connection all poured into a single glass.
Driven by this newfound passion, Danny immersed himself in the world of wine not only from a personal perspective, but through professional and educational pursuits as well. His mission became clear: to deepen his own understanding while helping others discover wine in a way that feels approachable, engaging, and free from pretension.
Danny holds certifications through the Wine & Spirit Education Trust (WSET) and the Court of Master Sommeliers. He is also the founder of The Rolling Grape (TRG), a wine experience and education brand created with the vision of making wine more accessible, inclusive, and enjoyable for everyone — whether they are seasoned enthusiasts or taking their very first sip.
Through curated tastings, educational experiences, and storytelling, Danny continues to bridge the gap between wine culture and everyday people, proving that wine is not just for a select few — it is for anyone willing to explore it.
